Unknown Owl in Hamilton

I was jogging with my dog about 6:45am in Hamilton, Ontario, when we encountered this owl-looking species.

At first I thought it was a cat, that's how big this beauty was!

Have searched and searched online but can't find any owls with a similar resemblance.

Can you help? Is this a type of owl?

Thank you for sending this picture of the owl you spotted - I'm thinking it could be either a Great Horned Owl or a Long Eared Owl.

Perhaps one of our readers will know and will be able to identify this owl.
