Unknown and unseen bird

by Barbara Moch
(Seagrave, Ontario, Canada)

This bird is smaller than a dove, has darker tipped light grey feathers, a slim slightly curved beak.

It has an almost white head and a bright red patch on back of head and neck.

I have never seen this before, but it has started to come to our back door to eat the mixed seeds we put out.

I will also post this on our facebook page in case any of our facebook followers can identify this mystery bird.

Small bird maybe 3 inches
by: Mark

I live in Belleville, Ontario and have seen this bird twice now - it is mostly white to pale body but red on head, tiny as in smaller than a finch and flies in a short wave pattern like a yellow finch would.

Juvenile Northern Flicker?
by: Jackie

Just a shot in the dark here, but maybe you were seeing a woodpecker?
