Miro and Joanna's Possum!
Miro and Joanna from Whitby reported that they saw a Possum on their property, they said ..... Our dog chased it out from the backyard's ground to the fence. On the fence the Possum freezed.
Heather from Whitby, Ontario reported ..... Around 7:45 p.m. on November 18, 2014 I found a young Possum stuck in my window well. I put a plank down in it which he must have climbed up as he was gone the next morning. I should have taken his picture, he had the cutest little face. I had seen an adult under my bird feeder back in the summer early a.m. so maybe this was its young one. This past February or March I also saw an adult outside my office in Pickering around 10:30 a.m.
Bev from Oshawa wrote to say ..... The night before last around 10:00 pm I heard a noise in our backyard and when I looked out I saw a plastic spray bottle had been knocked off the shelf under the BBQ. A few feet away I saw a very strange animal, it was about the size of a cat with a light grey body, thin tail and triangular-shaped white face. It gave me a bit of a scare at first, but I stayed at the door watching for awhile. I was so surprised I didn't think to get a picture, but I will if he comes back. I think he might have been eating bird seed from under the bird feeders. After a while he wandered off behind our shed. Maybe he's got a home in the space underneath. I hope so because it's due to get very cold soon. I was glad to find this website with all the pictures and descriptions to help me identify him. Now I'm curious to see him again.
John Giraldi from Guelph, Ontario, wrote to us to say ..... Last night we thought we saw a Raccoon on the back deck. When we got up to look out we're absolutely shocked to see it was a very large Possum. Nose to end of tail 2.5 to 3 feet. Very big! We were so shocked that by the time we thought to take a picture, he found his way off the deck.
Gary from Georgetown wrote to tell us ..... Our little puppy Boxer has met a new friend and it seems they are learning to live together in harmony under our backyard deck!
A reader from Thornhill says ..... It was sitting snug in the overturned garbage bin in the garage. I covered the bin with the lid and tipped it over at the curb. It wobbled across the street and into the dark, leaving large black droppings in my garage!
Lisa from Port Hope wrote to report ..... We have been having an issue lately with an animal digging around the house, but figured it was a skunk. Tonight for the first time we caught it digging through our recycling bad and it was a POSSUM! We are just east of Cobourg, Ontario.
Bruce from London, Ontario, wrote to report ..... On November 24, 2014, a large possum just strolled through my yard at 9:30 am!
Another reader said ..... Just saw one crawling along our fence! It was HUGE!!!!!!
