Owls in the neighborhood

This owl flew down from the tree and looked right at me. I think she was protecting her 3 babies.

This owl flew down from the tree and looked right at me. I think she was protecting her 3 babies.

These 4 owls have been visiting us since last Friday. The always come at dusk and are hard to get a good picture of.

Tonight the mom (less fluffy) flew right down to the grass in front of me.

They are all quite small maybe 6-8 inches tall.

I would love to know what kind they are.
