Mrs. Map Turtle
by James Sweetman
(Windsor, Ontario, Canada)
The turtle is masked under a general anesthetic. Head has to be held out
This the open appendage with 2 bones exposed.
Exposed tissue is removed and cleaned for closure
Limb was sutured then close with tissue glue
Map Turtle, full of eggs was found walking near Windsor Ontario, with only 3 legs.
The front right leg was missing the foot.
Sometimes, if these Turtles get caught in leg-hold traps for Muskrats, they will "chew" there appendages off.
