Three of our readers wrote to tell us about their sightings of Great Horned Owls.
About 7 pm, it was sitting a top of a large spruce in the center of town. Has been “singing” the last few nights, but finally I was able to observe him with binoculars :-)
Another reader said ... I opened my window around 2 am and heard the distinct "Whooo" of an owl and at first I thought it was stuck in my gutter or something, but it was echoing from the trees in the park behind our house. Soon a second owl chimed in and I discovered it to be a pair of these beauties! Never experienced something like this it was really calming to listen to!
Steve wrote to us in December to tell us about his sighting, he reports ... This is the second evening now that I've gone out and one is calling from my tall cedar hedge, 40 foot tall. It is very loud and I can hear a second returning calls from about 2 farms away. Sooo majestic. I haven't been able to see it yet. But I am hopeful.
Thank you folks, for writing to tell us about your Great Horned Owl experiences!
