First coyote sighting
by Rob Medcalf
(Leamington, Ontario, Canada)
Driving through Point Pelee National Park, on Sunday, November 3 2013 at 8:30 am, when one crossed the road in front of me, not in a hurry.
When it hit the bush, I stopped in my vehicle and the
Coyote stopped and looked at me.
It was maybe 40 feet away, then is sauntered off into the bush.
It's the first one I have seen in 11 years of living in Leamington.
I drive the park quite often over the years and enjoy driving my family through the park, I have seen dozens of
Deer in the park over the years and have seen
Raccoons,
Wild Turkeys, snapping turtles, muskrats and even mink crossing the road, but this is the first Coyote ever.
It was larger then I thought it would be, maybe 50lbs, very healthy looking, thick coat, travelling alone.
