Coyote Howling South edge of Kitchener

One of our readers from the Kitchener area sent us this report - We live in the Doon - South Homer Watson Boulevard area.


At 3:00 a.m. this morning, Saturday February 5th 2011, we awoke to howling.

We often have heard this in the past.

This time it was very close. A few years ago during a heavy winter like this one, I had a Coyote on our front lawn.

I believe they are again moving closer, in search of food.

There's a pack of Coyotes that have taken up living in Forest Heights, behind Westheights Public School. I encounter a young male every night. He is not timid and will approach you if you have a dog. Also, if you wish to hear a lot of vocals from Coyotes, Huron Natural Park, around 1-2 hours after sunset.

Saw a coyote at Doon South / Chestnut Hill Cr yesterday (6/26/13) at 7:20 AM. They're definitely around. I was looking at it watching me until I let it know I was not prey and it took off.

I heard them howling last night in the Bridgeport area of Kitchener, at around 3am.

4:00am Friday May 6 2011.
Coyotes heard calling behind my building, back onto wooded area, Grand River, and golf course on the other side of the river.

Calling lasted approximately half an hour.

Breakfast time hunting for Mom and Dad Coyote perhaps!

April 1st 2011 - 9pm
Living in Kitchener West, near Highland and Trussler, Forest Heights sub-division, a Coyote put out a short howl, then took interest to something close to the edge of the street. It seemed like it could tell someone was watching him and took off down one of the mailbox lanes.

I live in Deer Ridge and heard a Coyote last night around 2:00 am.
