Near Georgian Bay, July 1, 2011
My wife and I were kayaking on the Musquash River about 2 km upstream from where it empties into Georgian Bay.
A large bird flew directly over my head and I caught a quick look as it passed. I recognized it right away as a Bald Eagle, but could not believe my eyes!!
We followed it to a perch in a pine tree overlooking the river, and as we drifted closer it flew out of the tree directly overhead. No mistaking it at all.
A magificent sight.
If I had to guess, it would have been a juvenile bird.
