(Kitchener, Ontario, Canada)
Hi - I was walking through a forested park (Breithaupt Park) in Kitchener Ontario around 9:30 a.m. on January 6th when I heard a loud commotion of crows overhead.
A group of grows flew out of the woods across a short open space immediately in front of me, chasing a female snowy owl! They were about 20 feet off the ground.
The owl (possibly a juvenile) was very pale with spots and bars. It looked like a small flying cloud.
It vanished on the other side of a tree as the crows flew past. The crows then settled in and near the tree, continuing their ruckus, while the owl was nowhere to be seen around this tree or near the trunk.
I couldn't see any cavity that she could have easily entered.
Somehow, she escaped or camouflaged herself.
What a thrill. I have no photos - it all happened so fast.
